This afternoon I had the pleasure of participating in the Women’s Collection round-table at SAA. The session began with two presentations. One by Allida Black who spoke about the work being done as the Project Director and Editor of Eleanor Roosevelt’s Papers. Then we heard about the new initiatives at Alexander Street Press.
During the business portion of the session ideas were discussed about spreading the buzz for the Women’s Collection Round Table blog on SAA’s website and possible panel ideas for SAA 2011. One of my favorites was a panel that addressed social media outreach ideas while addressing budget cuts and constraints to best serve all of our users- but specifically bringing in under-represented women’s groups to ensure that their stories are told and that users have access to those rich histories.
Tonight’s reception at the National Archives was the essence of AWESOME! We had our own entrance and were mixing and mingling steps away from the Constitution, et al.
Full day tomorrow beginning with a New Member breakfast!
